Conrad Woodhead, Chapman School Principal (2011-Present)

Welcome to Chapman School, home of the Eagles. Chapman School is located at Mile 157 on the Sterling Highway and serves approximately 130 students.  Originally built in 1958, Chapman School has seen additions in 1969, 1978, and 1982.  Two portables were added in the mid-80s, and a shop for student use was added in 2014.  Currently, Chapman School serves over 130 students pre-k through 8th grade.  Our dedicated staff consists of 10.5 certified staff, 4 itinerant certified staff, and 5.5 classified staff, who are dedicated in making your child’s learning experience meaningful and positive.

Chapman School has become one of the highest academically achieving schools in the Kenai Peninsula School District. Our highly dedicated staff tailors instruction to meet the needs of each student.  Chapman is a 3 time 5-star school as recognized by the State of Alaska’s ASPI rating, an Alaska Awards School as recognized by the State (2014), and a two time National Title I school of the year (2009/2016).  Our quality staff, supportive parents, community partnerships, and dedicated students make these recognitions possible.  We welcome visitors and are constantly looking to identify community partnerships that can benefit our students.

The parents, staff, and students of Chapman School, along with the community of Anchor Point, agree that Chapman Students learn best when:

  1. students take pride in themselves, their school, and their community.
  2. students are kind, respectful, and caring toward all citizens.
  3. students set goals that help them succeed.
  4. students choose healthy and safe activities.
  5. students take responsibility for their learning.
